Here is how it can be done :
There's a awstats configuration file in each user's tmp folder:
/home/username/tmp/awstats/awstats.domain.com.conf
in this file search for the "AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser" parameter. This parameter should be set to 1. By default it is 0.
